Prayer Feathers and Smudge Herbs
Smoke and feather have carried prayers between Earth and Sky for countless generations. Smudging clears the energy of a space or a person, and invites the sacred into the present moment.
My feather smudge plumes and wings are used during the smudge ceremony, or any healing ceremony where air or bird energy is needed. The "found" winged ones are honored for the qualities of their teachings that they impart simply by us turning our attention toward them. Birds teach us to fly high above the illusion, they teach us to stay in the flow of life, and they teach us about perspective.
A simple smudge
Light the tip of your herb bundle and gently blow out the flame so it smolders. Holding a shell or bowl beneath it, use your feather to guide the smoke around your body – from your feet to the crown of your head – or around the room, with a prayer for clearing and blessing. When you are done, rest the bundle in the shell or press it into sand until it is fully out.

Every feather and herb is gathered with respect and gratitude. Herbs are grown and harvested with prayer rather than taken from the wild, so that these plant relatives may continue to thrive for the generations to come.
