The story & care

I first start with the finest materials available. My skins are treated with honor and respect, and while I create, I maintain a deep connection through ceremony to the medicine of the skin. It is a prayerful and peaceful process. My drum frames are created by a reverent man in Canada, and each is made from Canadian yellow cedar. They are solid, but light, and through decades of making drums using other frames, I can say with confidence that it is the best frame available.

The voice of the drum

The steady rhythm of the drum slows the breath, quiets the mind and opens the way into the shamanic state of consciousness. Across the back of each drum, the eight-pointed star lacing forms the Medicine Wheel, inviting your heart to open to its ancient energies. Many find that their drum becomes a lifelong companion – an ally for prayer, journeying, healing circles and ceremony.

Caring for your drum

Keep your drum away from rain, damp and direct heat, and rest it in a drum bag between uses. If the skin softens in humid weather, warm it gently near (never on) a heat source and its voice will return. Above all, play it often – a drum loves to be played.

Made in ceremony

Every piece carries a prayer

Each tool is made by Cyndy’s hands, with honor for the old ways and a prayer for the one who will carry it. If you are dreaming of something made especially for you, she would love to hear from you.
